Sophie's Art Gallary
I hope you like my art work!
As I create my piece, I often base it off the emotion I feel on that day. If I feel anger, I’ll draw something with vibrant colors and fast brush strokes. If I feel calm and happy, I’ll try to branch out in my creativity more, experimenting with different poses and different contrasts. If I feel lonely, I’ll dull my colors and have less dramatic poses. My art comes from my emotions, and I attempt to convey less of a story and more of a single moment. I enjoy being carefree and drawing sudden pieces that seem to pop out. I rarely limit myself to only a few hues or a flat, portrait perspective. In most of my pieces, you can see the brush strokes more clearly the further you stray away from the main subject, and I like to create this sort of sketched, messy effect. This emphasizes the subject more and give the painting a raw edge. My goal is to create something that makes my audience invoke a strong, raw feeling, so I developed my art style to look blunt and vibrant. I use different colorful hues and messy strokes to portray emotions as what they are, without any subtleness.
I have received gold key, silver key, and honorable mentions from the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest.

Blindsighted
Something is wrong, but I don't know what it is.

Running Freely
After it's all over, the feeling of running freely feels like the crackling of firecrackers.

Not doing enough work, not working as efficiently. Something must be wrong, but clearly nothing is.

Fireboy
They say sometimes you find joy in the smaller things, but the bigger the joy, the more radiant your smile is

Astonished
I can't believe he would do that.
Joy
A young boy who starts a fire. He seems delighted, despite the wound.
Itchy
Sometimes you just have to get that itch.
For Spare
Someone emerges from the pond, holding something undiscernible. He tries to stitch it back together, but there is no body in sight.
